This Summer: The Internship

School’s out it’s summer.

You’ve earned this well deserved… internship.

As a university student, it’s common to hear your peers talk about which company they’re interning for or which amazing interview they’ve just nailed.

Is it really necessary to spend your entire summer on an internship, spending 3 months possibly pouring coffee for people who’s job you could do with one eye closed? (I’m kidding, if you intern for the right company there’s no way you could do your boss’ work)

Yes it is. But not because you get to “learn” or “apply” what you’ve gained in the classroom. Instead, it is necessary for this very reason serial entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk highlights in this video

I was very fortunate to have interned for a social media agency that handled the South East Asian Games in 2015. While the event was prestigious, it’s the connections that I made in the industry I wanted to work for that sealed the experience.

No we didn’t look like that all the time, we posed for it.
