They’re my group members.
Went solo all the way till university?
That’s great and all, but things are about to change.
One of the blessings and banes of my university life was the group projects - not the project, but the team mates.
I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some amazing people who are understanding, mature and have great work ethic.

When you work with these people, you can stop worrying about the administrative details such as deadlines being met, meetings starting on time and focus on the real things - banging out a quality project.
Sunshine and rainbow moments like these don’t happen all the time though. Through the course of my degree, I’ve unfortunately had to group with some not-so-pleasant members.
All that could have been avoided, and here’s what I wish I had known beforehand.
First, get to know the people you are going to work with. By that, I don’t mean as friends. I mean get to know them as workers. Understand their working style and see whether it is something that aligns with yours. Remember, just because someone has a different working style from you, does not mean that they have a worse one.
Beyond getting to know them as people, ask around for opinions from people who have worked with them before. Sometimes it takes working together to understand a person better.
Once both of that are done, I feel that you need to know what you bring to the table as well because groups are never a one-way street. You have to pull as much weight as you expect you members to.
