This Summer: Outside the Classroom

You have a total of 3 summers before real life kicks in and while having internships are great, it’s important to make the most of your summer.
In the summer of 2015, my best friends and I started a small retail company, Cereal Kendama, selling the Japanese skill toy called a kendama. I won’t go into much detail about the company but you can find out more about that here.
Starting Cereal Kendama allowed me to apply what I had learnt in the classroom to build the social media heavy company. A year later it’s still growing and I’ve learnt more than I would had I spent the summer in pools or laying at the beach.

You don’t have to start a company, but you should not waste your summer.
Each summer, make use of the time to pursue something you’ve always wanted to, connect with friends who you’ve been “too busy” to meet and make sure that at the end of your university life, you look back and say that those were summers well spent.
The Simpsons depicts nicely here what you should NOT be experiencing at the end.
